Snoop Dogg spits hot rhymes about DeSean Jackson
DeSean Jackson has a hot song on the front page of his web site courtesy of Snoop Dogg. We’d write the lyrics here, but it’s better just to hear it.Having said there, here’s the first few lines:
“Where the Gs at,
whre the trees at,
if you want a touchdown,
throw the ball to DJacc”

Max Jean-Gilles to start; Harris fined $7,500
With Nick Cole sliding over to center in place of the injured Jamaal Jackson, Max Jean-Gilles will take over the right guard spot on the line. What remains to be seen is who becomes the back-up to Jean-Gilles.
It’s possible that free-agent bust (at least thus far) Stacy Andrews will finally be activated after warming the bench for the last two months.
In any event, the Eagles line is taking a huge hit as both Andrews and Jean-Gilles lost the starting job to the hard working Cole. At this point, without any other options, you just have to hope Jean-Gilles and Andrews have learned something from sitting behind Cole and watching him and the Eagles line gel into a title-contending line.
In other Eagles news, Macho Harris was fined $7,500 for his block on Tony Scheffler a split second after Asante Samuel’s interception last week. Apparently, the NFL disagrees with our assessment that Harris was continuing momentum. Then again, the fact that he lead with his shoulder probably didn’t help macho’s case.

Dawkins introduction at the Linc
If you didn’t get a chance to see the entire video of the Broncos introductions on Sunday, following is a great shot from right above the visiting tunnel. The video speaks for itself. We’ll never have another player like Dawk.

DailyPhiladelphian set for next step
DailyPhiladelphian.com is ready to take off the diapers and go to the next level in our quest to build the preeminent Philly sports news and fan site in the blogosphere.
Over the next few days, hopefully shorter than longer, we’ll be switching servers in an effort to make the site even more user-friendly. We plan to be able to have polls, tweet and retweet buttons, advertisements and some other features. Don’t worry, we don’t plan to trash our site with an abundance of ads.
While we make this transition, the site may be down for a few hours at some point. We just hope it’s not this weekend since there is a big Eagles game on the horizon.
We’ll continue to post except for when the site is unavailable.
Check back and look for a better DailyPhiladelphian.com.
Thanks for reading and for your support.

Kendra Wilkinson’s family must still love Eagles
OK, it’s a slow Tuesday night and the future Mrs. Daily Philadelphian is at work. So, what else is there to do but watch the newest episode of Kendra. Yes, it’s a rerun from a week or so ago, but it’s the first chance we’ve had to see it.
From watching the show it’s clear that either Kendra’s family members are still diehard Eagles fans, or that Hank Baskett needs to come through on some free Colts gear.

Kendra Wilkinson may want to get her family some Colts gear.
While Kendra was in the delivery room, her brother is seen in a Baskett Eagles jersey and her mom was wearing a white Eagles winter jacket.
Hey, we’re not bashing either person for wearing Eagles gear. We can understand the attraction to Eagle Nation. And, as far as the jersey goes, I have one, too. (If Hank or Kendra are reading this, I bought the jersey after Hank’s first preseason game in Philly and would love to have you autograph it).
Having said that, the segment of the show in question was filmed in December. Hank has been with the Colts since late September. You’d think he could come up with some Colts swag between then and now.
And, if he did, then Kendra’s family is clearly making the right choice by continuing to support the Eagles. We only hope they continue doing so when the Colts and Eagles play in Super Bowl XLIV.

Macho Harris penalty bad call by refs
When Macho Harris was initially called for unnecessary roughness following Asante Samuel’s ninth interception of the season, your Daily Philadelphian thought it was a questionable call that could have gone either way. While we were obviously upset with the change in field position, we didn’t get too angry at the call itself.
However, after watching the replay, we don’t see how that penalty can be called in the game of football. Take a look at the play, then we’ll explain our position.
The hit came maybe a half second after the interception. Harris took two.5 steps before leveling Tony Scheffler.
When players are flying around the field at that speed, you can not expect them to stop on a dime. Momentum would carry Harris forward. Now, did they call the penalty because Harris drilled Scheffler with his shoulder? Maybe.
However, Scheffler was in a position to tackle Samuel so Harris had to chip block him. It just so happens that the chip block was delivered roughly because of Harris’ speed.
Look, the fear of injuries and concussions is very real and the NFL is right to protect players. However, if you are going to call penalties like the one Harris was flagged for, you might as well change to two-hand touch.

Temple falls to UCLA in EagleBank Bowl, 30-21
Temple’s Cinderella season came to an end with a disappointing 30-21 loss to the UCLA Bruins in the EagleBank Bowl on Tuesday in Washington, D.C.
Temple built up a commanding 21-10 lead at halftime before falling apart in the second half.

Temple and Bernard Pierce fell to UCLA in the EagleBank Bowl, 30-21.
During the third quarter, freshman sensation running back Bernard Pierce appeared to have sustained a shoulder injury and did not return to the game. That had a direct effect on the Owls who were unable to muster any offense afterward.
Pierce ended the game with 53 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.
With the score 21-17 entering the 4th quarter, the Bruins took over. Junior quarterback Vaughn Charlton tossed two fourth quarter interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown by the UCLA’s Akeem Ayers that gave the Bruins the lead for good.
The Bruins also recorded a safety when the Owls snapped a ball out of the end zone when attempting a punt.
The Owls, who end the season at 9-4, appeared in their first Bowl game since 1979.
Today’s game aside, the future of the temple program under coach Al Golden appears to be headed in the right direction. With Pierce coming back for two more seasons, you can expect the Owls to be back Bowling next year. Plus, the TV exposure today will only help in recruiting.

Was Brent Celek snubbed in Pro Bowl selections?
Brent Celek had a Pro Bowl caliber year for the Eagles and his omission from the Pro Bowl roster seems to be one of the bigger snubs of the year to Eagles fans. However, it may not be as bad as it would first appear.
Jason Witten and Vernon Davis made it as the NFC tight ends. Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez was likely in the discussion as well.

Was Brent Celek's omission from the pro Bowl a true snub?
Here’s how they line up:
- Jason Witten: 88 catches, 954 yards and one TD.
- Vernon Davis: 72 catches, 876 yards and 12 TDs
- Tony Gonzalez: 80 catches, 837 yards and six TDs.
- Brent Celek: 69 ctaches, 875 yards and 8 TDs.
Based on the numbers — and that plus your reputation determine Pro Bowl selections — Celek appears to be higher than Gonzalez. However, you can’t argue with taking Davis and Witten over Celek.
Davis with his 12 TDs was absolutely heading to Miami. Celek had no shot to take his spot. That leaves Witten.
The fact is Witten has a great reputation and likely made it based on that. The numbers are very similar with Witten having just one TD. However, he has 19 more catches.
The bottom line is Celek has had a pro Bowl caliber season in just his third year in the league. But, when you play arguably the deepest position in the league and don’t have the name recognition yet, a Pro Bowl selection was more of a wish at this point.
That doesn’t diminish what Celek has done one bit. His performance this year will get him to future Pro Bowls if he continues to play at this level.

DeSean Jackson, five other Eagles named to Pro Bowl roster
The Philadelphia Eagles are sending six players to the Pro Bowl.
DeSean Jackson has made it as a starting wide receiver and a punt returner. He is the first player to ever make it at two positions.

DeSean Jackson has "jerked" his way to the Pro Bowl.
Leonard Weaver joins Jackson as a first-time pro Bowl selection.
Left tackle Jason Peters, defensive end Trent Cole, corner Asante Samuel and kicker Jason Peters are also on the roster.
Jackson has 60 receptions for 1,120 yards and nine touchdowns from the receiver slot. The man who has tied the NFL record for touchdowns more than 50 yards with eight, also has a rushing touchdown and two punt return touchdowns.
Weaver, in his first year as an Eagle, has blocked and rushed his way to Miami. Filling in for the injured Brian Westbrook, Weaver has a career high 321 yards and two rushing tochdowns, as well as two receiving scores.
On the defensive side, Cole has is fifth in the NFL with 12.5 sacks, while Samuel is tied for the league lead with nine intcerpetions.
David Akers has rebounded from a couple down years to once again be among the NFC’s best clutch kickers. For the season, Akers has hit 32-0f-36 field goals, the most in the NFL.
This year’s Pro Bowl will be played the week before the Super Bowl in Miami, Fla. No offense to those who made the team, but your DailyPhiladelphian hopes no Eagles play in the Pro Bowl. We’d rather they be preparing for a game called Super Bowl XLIV.
